Last fall our furnace MODEL DGAA077BDTA had quit lighting. A repair tech came to inspect and found the the heat exchanger had cracked. He said that most the the COLEMAN furnaces they had sold have had the heat exchangers crack.

Cracked heat exchangers leak CARBON DIOXIDE. Be aware of this potential lethal problem.

Luckily my daughter, whose bedroom is right behind our furnace, did not suffer from any carbon dioxide poisoning.

We've had the recall/safety notices regarding this issue posted for a couple years now. You can read about it at this link (lower right corner of page): http://www.mobilehomerepair.com/hvac.html

Also, having your furnce cleaned, inspected and serviced before heating season every year is very wise.

Especially if it is a gas furnace. I also recommend a CO detector in main part of home and one in each occupied bedroom.

Furnaces of all brands have failures and are subject to be hazardous at any given time. Regular seasonal inspections help to find these problems that the manufacturer or homeowner may not as of yet be aware of.

Glad all are ok and it was found in time.

It is also good on anything that has the potential to be harmful if it fails, to routinely check for consumer recalls online for the brand and model number.

Thanks for spreading the word and trying to warn others.

Take care and best wishes,
Robert
