I have remained at my lot for 5 years because I haven't been able to find a mover and it doesn't make sense to keep paying rent when I have a lot of my own.
So am I doing something wrong here?
Why is it so difficult to find an honest mover?

Moving a MH and setting it up can cost a lot of money.
There are a lot of factors involved: mileage, labor market, skirting, steps, air conditioning, power, plumbing, grading, soil testing for pier supports, tie downs.
How much of the work can you do?

I do believe those quotes are way out of line, or at least they are for my area. Harry mentioned the stuff involved in moving a mobile home.
In my area, the set up crew has nothing to do with the plumbing and electric, this is done by those professionals.
Call some of your local MH dealers and ask who they use to move there homes, or the people that said the cost was to high, who did they use?
As Harry said, there are somethings that you may be able to do yourself, remove skirting, disconnect plumbing, steps, decks etc...
