We are considering purchase of an early 70's mobile home (a Golden West, I believe) and we are concerned about fire safety in these older homes. Are there some things that can be done to improve fire safety, without too much expense? The walls are paneling. Would replacing with sheetrock help quite a bit? Also, we know that the wiring is probably aluminum so that would need to be replaced, most likely. Any ideas? The home seems to be very well kept, on a lovely lot in a very nice senior park, and the owner has made quite a few improvements over the last few years.
Thanks for any advice.

Sheet rock can be a major factor to retard the spread of fire. I would contact a qualified Electrician and have it checked, If it is aluminum wiring you may not have to replace everything. I have read that they can pigtail copper leads to connect to switches & outlets where the problems tend to start.
