6 mil plastic as underbelly wrap?

It's not recommended, You want a product that is breathable. You do not want any moisture trapped, that would cause a Mold or rot issue. At the very least I would use house wrap (Tyvec).
Plastic would be fine on the ground under the home to form a vapor/moisture barrier.
