Blower motor running with T-stat in off position
I have a Coleman Presidential Model 7660 Series 859 60,000 BTU heat/AC unit in a mobile home about 160 miles away (lake home). I got a call from my lake neighbor yesterday telling me that there was a terrible noise coming from the trailer. He verified that the t-stat was in the off position but the fan was running anyway and making the noise. He pulled the grill off of the furnace and found a switch to turn the fan off. I assume I need a new blower motor due to the noise but what would have caused it to come on and stay on? The outside condenser unit was not running, just the fan. Is this something as simple as a new t-stat or could it be a fan relay? I don't know alot about heat and air stuff but I am fairly good at changing out parts. As i stated, i am 160 miles so i haven't had a chance to pull the motor out to get the identifying numbers off of it, does anyone know what motor that unit used? What about the relay? I am going down there tomorrow for a guys weekend so maybe i can get it fixed then but the next weekend is July 4th and we are planning to take the family and have to have A/C. Thanks for the help.
Hi,
Sorry to hear about your problem, Not sure what caused your blower to just turn on. I am going to give you some options in trying to fix the problem. I would start with a new fan relay
here is a link for that part

Next if the motor was making noise you might need to replace your motor. If you put in a new motor you should replace the run capacitor, here is a link for that

and here is a link for a new motor.

I hope this helps out some.
