Coleman EB15B iced up?
Got up this morning and blower was running with very little air flow. Found the a coil froze up and the large line iced up going to the heat pump with some of the lines I could see inside the heat pump iced up. Air flow has been good on the unit and filters are fairly new. Any suggestions? With the heat wave it is going to be a few days before someone can come look at it.
Hi Tom,
This sounds like a classic case of low refrigerant charge. The icing up of the coil and the lines from the a/c unit to the in door coil is a great indicator of a low refrigerant charge. If you know how to add a proper charge then by all means feel free. If not i would turn your thermostat to off and fan to on. That way the fan can deice the coil. You need to watch the coil when it starts to thaw to make sure that it does not let any water run in to the furnace and get the electronics wet. Then call a service tech that can recharge your system.
Thanks
Bill

Please remember to check and change your filters.
