Plumber is talking about changing existing gas water heater to electric. What do I need to do? Should I have an electrician come in and install a breaker in the box for the new electric hot water heater? My box supports 200 A max so that should be enough? I would much rather have electric water heater instead of gas in case it needs replaced again in a few years.
Thoughts on this would be appreciated.

yes you would need a new wire ran to where the water heater is and then tied into a new breaker. you 200A service should handle it just fine.
