where does everyone buy HO insurance. I had to buy $35,000.00 to protect the bank and ended up paying $581.00 for $341,000.00 worth of ins for a $2000.00 MH. I was over barrel because of the closing so I told them to enjoy the money as they will not see me next yr.

Check with the agent that has your auto, many companies bundle auto/home.
Pray for lighting during the year, If they will pay out $341k for a loss.

the 341,000 is a typo, they should have wrote $31,400.00. this is thru my insurance agent that we've had for 40 plus yrs.Greg wrote:Check with the agent that has your auto, many companies bundle auto/home.

Mine is through Allstate, about $480/yr.
OK, it sounds like you have NEW REPLACEMENT value coverage, that really is not too bad. If you stop and think about it should you have a total loss where are you going with $2000.? Clean up costs alone will eat that up.
Double check with your agent and have them explain everything in detail.

Ours is also with Allstate (auto, home, life, umbrella) and is for replacement cost - since a MH depreciates I'd hate to get stuck with the actual cash value of an older home. Replacement cost premiums are more, but well worth it in the event of fire, tornado, flood, etc.

You guys got off cheap, I just paid over $700 per year for mobile home insurance but did just get the whole roof replaced on the house and garage due to storm damage. Look for it all to go up next time due to damage nationwide from the storms. Mine was through Progressive.
