I am planning on tearing our master bathroom down to the studs and replacing tub, vanity, toilet. HAve a soft spot in floor under tub. Should i start this project during the winter months. We live in the Southern Tier of NY and last yr had quite a few months of extreme cold. I just worry that if the flooring is removed and just insulation and studs are visible that the cold will really come into the house more. House is 1986 DW

It sure will. How long do you plan to have the floor open?
You may be able to do a section at a time to keep the time open to a minimum. The problem could be if you find a bad joist that needs to be replaced and you have to reopen a section to make repairs.

I know that once i get my sight set on a project nothing will deter me outside of a direct grenade hit. That said, nothing is worse than trying to get the cold chill out of your bones on a freezing, bleak, grey day. I think I would be inclined to cover the soft spot so i didn't fall through it - and hold until warmer days.
Opportunity has a shelf life.
