I was greeted early one morning with a cool wet feeling on my bare feet around my toilet. Felt around for any leaks....so surmised the problem was the wax ring had failed. Replaced the wax ring...and in doing so found the actual source of the water: a tiny, tiny, tiny pinhole in the wall of the pex tubing where it comes up through the floor.
I've seen splits, cracks, and leaky fittings....but a pinhole???
Pex pinhole???

I cut the pipe about 1/4" right above and below the pinhole....slipped on a coupler and glued it all back together. It's drying now.
The fix was easy - but I'll bet there is a pretty swampy mess in the belly. And its dipping down to freezing at night - so I'm not really wanting to slice open the belly to pull out any water logged insulation.

Opportunity has a shelf life.
I had a pex pinhole at a rental about a year ago. Soggy spot just outside skirting blocks at the farthest point from the access, no water source anywhere. Scratching my head, I crawled under, and (luckily) just inside was the spray from a hot water line, just tiny but over time...
A rat chewed through til he hit water. Bastard. Rat bastard - haha
Funny how much moisture damage and water results from a tiny long lasting leak like this.
