Partially Cut Wire

Been cutting down a palm tree for the last 5 days. It's down and done. I cut and reworked PVC pipe for the irrigation system but in my haste, partially cut a 12-2 ufb electrical wire. One side is open, the other side has the outer coating in tact. The wire is buried in the ground and supplies electricity for the garden lights.
I have no problem turning all the power off and working with the wire. I'm just not sure how to bridge the 2 halves together. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dave
