My biggest concern would be that there should be blocking where that gap a long the wall is. When you remove the particle board floor, there will be spans a long the walls and where your new plywood will lay, that will have no wood under it. All of these areas need to be blocked with 2x4 or 2x6, so that the plywood can be nailed down properly. 4-6 inch nail pattern around the perimeter of the plywood, 6-8 inches in the field (middle joists). You will also nail the remaining original floor to this same blocking. You really shouldn't be seeing that light through the gap.
That being said, if you are satisfied with the strength and support of the new plywood, you could stuff Caulk Rod into the gap, to keep the floor leveling material from dripping through. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Frost-King- ... gLhlvD_BwE
