Hi,

Do all you old-timers to this site remember Shane Speal's retro trailer? He took an old trailer and made the inside look real retro. So well decorated that it made us all giddy! Pictures of it are posted in our photo album: http://mobilehomerepair.com/phpbb/album ... p?cat_id=6

Anyway, I've been in contact with Shane, and he said that he sold the home and moved into something bigger. I asked him if he sold it in its retro format, and he responded, "We sold the trailer in it's full Warhol whacked out goodness to an 86 year old man who still mows his own grass and volunteers for his church! He just needed a well-maintained home. Thanks to all the stuff I learned from your site, he got a well-maintained home." So gotta love that!

But it gets better. Do you old timers remember Shane's hobby? His hobby is playing guitars made out of cigar boxes. For those of you interested, he just released his 4th CD! Pick your copy up here: http://somedarkholler.com/ShaneSpeal_St ... eFire.html.

Do you want to listen to others playing cigar-box guitars. Well guess what, they have their own Internet radio station. Listen to that here: http://www.live365.com/stations/tha_goat.

Also be sure to check out Shane's cigar box website at: http://www.cigarboxguitar.com/,
and his myspace page at: http://myspace.com/cigarboxguitar.

I asked Shane when would we see the first cigar-box guitar video. Still waiting on that answer. . .

I tell ya, you gotta love hobbies, and you gotta love the Internet for bringing people with like interests together. Really, who knew that cigar-box guitars would create such a following that it would someday have its own Internet radio station. Neat, eh.

Here's Shane's response to my question asking if he has a cigar-box guitar video:

"1. PBS is making a documentary on the whole cigar box guitar movement I started. There's info at www.maxshores.com (he's the director)
2. Videos? You say you want videos? Ok, get ready to click away...
http://video.aol.com/video-detail/id/2342728649 (My spacey, psychedelic stuff live)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1HJfxkxmnVo (me and Bobby Hamilton of the band Low Country Messiahs)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQo6Js2BbTw (me sitting in with the band Leaving Miss Blue)
And a slew of other cigar box videos from the Cigar Box Guitar Extravaganza Concert from last month in Huntsville AL: http://www.youtube.com/user/TCROCKERUSA."
-----------
I'm not sure why this fascinates me, as I'll probably never play a cigar box guitar in my life, but I get a kick out of Shane and how his odd-ball hobby has almost grown into a cult following!

Man, that is wild! Telecaster neck on a cigar box. And of course, a blues man. Can't go wrong with that! You can see his you tube video from his website, http://www.cigarboxguitar.com/.

How cool is that?!

Wow, that's awesome Mark!

I do have to wonder though, did that man have the guts to paint over the Curious George room that Shane's wife painted? I'm not sure I would have had the guts to paint over that beautiful job she did! Heck, I may have made that room my office and enjoyed the art!

Both Shane and his wife are amazing folks, and very artistically inclined. Nothing surprises me coming out of either one of them!

Can't wait see the PBS documentary! I watch a lot of PBS. Mark, if you can get Shane to post the air time in the off topic forum, we'd all love to see it please?

Yep, he's a blues guy... I'm a blues gal LOL! Was growling earlier cause I had to go out and pick the guys up. Daniel's car died in Wal Mart's parking lot. Popped Steive Ray Vaughn in the CD player and all was right with the world!
