Vinyl Beadboard

Has anybody tried the vinyl beadboard planks? I see Home Depot carries them. We are planning on using these for our bathroom ceiling. Hubby just took down the old ceiling (water damaged). He put up some plywood today. So next weekend, we want to get the planks up. I'm thinking, white vinyl, no painting and easy to clean. The bathroom is 5x8 so planking would be the easiest to get in there. The plywood was no fun to get it home with the car and to squeeze it in the bathroom.

I don't see why it would not work. I have used it for wainscoting and installed it with "Power Grip" glue only so you did not see and nail holes. On the ceiling I would use Power Grip glue and some nails. They do make a vinyl hole patch for the vinyl wood to fill the nail holes.

It went up Monday afternoon, that's how he did it Housemedic. I need to pick up the stuff to patch the little nail holes this weekend. When the time comes, that'll be our first choice for the other bathroom and kitchen. Next step is to prep the walls for paint before we do the molding. He is going to attempt to get rid of those dumb uglly wall strips too. But I'll be checking the aisles for a plan B. With a nice clean looking ceiling also gives me the urge to replace that light under the exhaust to something nicer. Now it looks fugly. My ears are starting to ring, he must know I'm scheming for more projects and he's cussing me, lol.
Far from done, we still have to finish up the walls and purchase the molding, but the vinyl beadboard worked out pretty good.
I'd like to replace that light too, but this was an unexpected repair, so that will have to wait. I'm actually going to consider this if the master bath or the kitchen needs ceiling work. Best of all, we don't have to paint it.You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Looks good. After you paint the walls I would even use a vinyl quarter round or a vinyl trim that you like for around the edge ceiling.

Found some vinyl trim, but hubby failed the trim cutting, so I just had him paint the old trim white and put that up. Rather than waste the trim, we are using it where the floor meets the wall, he isn't going to have to worry about corners. And I think we're going to have to buy some scrap sometime til he gets the hang of it. He can do the straight trims, but any of this fancy was just not working. When we do the master, I think I will look for trim that already has corners and save the grief. In the end, all is well, we weren't prepared to do a major overhall to begin with. The ceiling was a necessity so it all worked out.
