I am most likely going to purchase a completely outside a/c/heater unit. I want to go ahead and put in a thermostat before i purchase the thermostat.
Does it matter which kind of thermostat i purchase or do i have to get one that matches up with the unit? Can i go to home depot and and just purchase any thermostat?
Thanks

The omly problem that I could think of is the voltage. If you know what unit you are planning to buy find out for sure what the thermostat voltage is. Then buy a thermostat that has both heat & cooling, before you buy, try a few and buy one that YOU can set. That may sound funny, but some are a major pain to get programed. Greg

It MUST be matched to your unit type and wiring configurastion.

Also, if getting programmable, best to get battery operated.

Thanks for inquiring,
Robert
