crazy airflow and temperature situation

alrighty then.
new, 2007 cavalier powerhouse.
inside electric furnace. no a/c hookup-installed yet.
all vents on both sides of home blow a LOT of air. all about equal in airflow.
vents on FURNACE side of house blow lukewarm air. vents on opposite side blow burning hot air.
now the fun really starts.
yesterday, new heat pump installed. 4 ton unit, air-sourced.
new thermostat installed to accomodate heat-pump/emergency heat function.
now guess what?
the vents on the furnace side blow the same amount of airflow and yes, warmer air now with the heat pump ON.
the vents on the opposite side of the house have almost NO airflow but have slightly warmer air.
same for the cooling function of the heat pump.
vents on furnace side blow a lot of air and cool air.
vents on opposite side have almost NO airflow yet do blow cool air.
i realise the heat pump unit required the 'blower' to be bumped up from med-high to high.
is there an equalization flapper or some other damper that could be effected?
thanks for your time
