Well anyway, we have a fan in our living room that has ran on medium speed for 23 years almost non-stop  . Anyway, we noticed that if we ever turned it off for say, more than 30 minutes, you would hear a little "grind" noise every couple of minutes that would go away after a day or two. I know it has something to do with the bearings. My question is this, will it overheat? It isnt grinding, and it has been months since it was ever shut off. Just curious.

Hi Kyle

Sounds like the fan is failing.

Yes there is great potential that it will overheat.

Aside from the roof leak, soft floors, rats, mice and bursted plumbing ........ how do you like it?

Come on Kyle, the fan is older than you!! I think it's time to retire it. Greg
