Compost Bin

I am wanting to build my own compost bin and need some advice from the gardeners. I have seen some made from plastic barrels and some made from wood and wire. Please give me pos and cons of both.

I have had the plastic barrel type, and the are good, but they fill quickly and can be a pain to work in and around. Wood rots eventually. Right now I just have a spot to dump compost. So it is a compost heap now. It is out of sight, and if I need to turn it over, it is really easy!
