The 1975 electric furnace I have sat all summer and when I turned it on for the first time, it heated without stopping. I came in and the house was 85 degrees and the only way I could stop it was to throw the circuit breakers. The thermostat had no effect.

I did some research and took off the front panels and found a transformer and two sequencers. While the furnace was running I tapped one of the sequencers and the furnace stopped immediately. I then reset the thermostat and the furnace heated normally and stopped and has been functioning normally since then. I assume it has a sequencer that sticks on for whatever reason. Does that sound right? If so, where can I get a sequencer to replace the defective one?

Thanks for the help,

Don

Ok, this is my first time doing this. I'll get it right eventually.
I couldn't find any numbers on the sequencer except 24v 16 amp.
Maybe they are on the bottom or the sides I can't really see?
It doesn't look like the ones in the Coleman furnace parts section.

Thanks again,

Don

Hi Don,

Do you have two sequencers on one metal plate or is it two sequencers on seperate metal plates ?

The p/n's should be on the top of sequencer or on the metal plate.

Look for a number beginning with 6806.

Our data on that furnace shows two sequencers, but doesn't give detailed info.

One is no longer available and the other is showing one left in stock, then it will be NLA.

Also, give me all numbers off the plates, may need to remove them or it to see better.

This is an old furnace, so parts will be few to none.

Thanks,
Robert

Robert,

There are two sequencers on one metal plate.

The left sequencer has TYPE NO. 24A55-101 on the side
plate and is the one that is causing the problem.
The right one is TYPE NO. 24A52-109.

I have pictures, but couldn't get them on this message.
I can send them through email if you have an address and
want to see them.

Thanks for the help.
