What type of thermostat and furnace?

If gas furnace, you typically match the milliamp draw of the gas valve, then adjust incrementally (shorter or longer) from there depending what cycle frequency you're aiming for.

Look in your furnace manual or on the gas valve for the anticipator amp setting, then set accordingly and leave it there.

Needs to be set to manufacturer design specs and left there with no adjustments needed.

Thanks,
