pet damaged counter top, retile?

I am working on a nasty bank repo mobile. I will be able to get it into safe, clean affordable housing, but is will be nerve racking at time.

the cats used the counter tops as potties, due to the floor area being full of stuff. rather than try to clean them, I am considering removing all caulk, and the laminate, and disinfecting them, then putting on tile.

so, what are the methods folks have used to add tile onto a counter top?

also, I have not used a tile saw, any suggestions on that?

thanks!

Brenda. On the first one I did I just cleaned and scuffed up the formica and went over the top of it with tile.

Tile saws are like mini table saws only the blades run in water. They have a smooth rim diamond blade, usually 4-6". Harbor Freight has a cheap one around $50. Greg

I just went straight over the laminate with ceramic tile in mine as well. I used Henry 314 Ceramic Tile Adhesive which was recommended by a contractor buddy of mine since he said it sticks to anything. It has held up for a couple years now with no issues, even around the tub deck, which I used as a stepladder quite a bit while re-doing the ceiling in the bathroom.
