Water shut-off valve

Hi.

In my mobile home, the water shut-off valve is under the home which is really not convenient for a Canadian in the middle of winter...just getting the skirting off is a pain in the butt in a foot of snow.

So my question is, how can I install a shut-off inside the house, so as to be able to do repairs/maintenance during the winter months?

Thanks

Lissa

Hi & welcome. On many homes the main water line comes into the home at the water heater and splits there one side to the tank and the other to the cold water side. If that is the case in your situation you should be able to put a valve there. Use either a Ball (1/4 turn) type or a gate valve. Use either a Brass or stainless body valve, stay away from plastic since they tend to fail when you need it the most. Greg
