Does anyone know about problems with Masonite siding?

Hi & welcome. I am guessing you are talking about the problem of rot & warping. There was a class action lawsuit a few years back over the problems with it. You are too late to be included with it, but it is no great loss since those suits usually pay pennies on the dollar.
Your best bet is to just plan on bitting the bullet and replacing the siding on your own. some here have replaced with Hardiboard, some with T111 and others with Vinyl siding. I am sure others will add to this, or you can do a search of old posts. Greg

Hi,

My personal thoughts on T1-11 is it is junk for long term exterior use. Yup, cheap to start with, but one of those you get what you pay for.

Save your money and buy the best quality siding you can afford. You will save yourself money in the long term.

I am not sure which brand of vinyl is on my home but it has the built in insulation on the back side. Great stuff!
