Wood Rot/Decay & Mold Repair??

I found an old leak around a small door opening under the bed area of our RV park model and the wood framing and floor around the area is wet, rotted/decayed, etc. and the odor of mold & mildew is very strong. I intend to cut out and replace as much of the decayed wood as I can and permanently close and seal the door.

I have heard mention there is some kind of spray solution that can/should be sprayed on all of the surounding wood to kill the mold/mildew before finishing the repair and placing new wall panel.

Does anyone know what product can or should be used on the old and new wood and carpet to kill the mold mildew in the bad area?

Thanks, Dave

Well I hear bleach works pretty well against mold but of course with the odor it produces it's not recommended. From what I understand it also does little to prevent mold growth.

Here's a few options:

http://www.inspectapedia.com/sickhouse/action.htm - this is an ugly page but it's got some great information.

There are many mold sprays on the market. A good hardware store should have something. Moldex, Mold Ram.

If you find the problem is worse then you expected I'd recommend contacting a restoration franchise. (link removed by moderator)
