So my MIL calls says its hot in her mobile home-- I discover condenser fan not working- go ahead and kick start it-- it works for about a week--she calls again- I then pull out motor- inject oil into the oil holes- it works for about a 1/2 day-- she calls again.

Fan motor is an Emerson model 1468-211 1/3 hp 208-230V 1100 rpm

what is most likey wrong-- fan motor worn out, or capacitor shot? How should I test? Unit is pushing twenty years old. Thanks for your input

Hi,

Test to see if you are getting full voltage to the two motor leads. Was the motor hot when it quit ?

Check the run capacitor to see if it is swollen, bulging, leaking.

Could replace the run cap to see if it helps, would have to replace it anyway if you replaced the motor.

Thanks,
Robert

Motor was not running when it quit-- won't start---

Put in a new run capacitor-- runs fine now

Thanks for your help
