Replacement Gutter Installation

First of all would like to say Great Site!! so glad to have found it. In reading the threads on gutter installation I just wanted to confirm that the recommended way is to install the new gutters under the old drip rail and then fasten to the top plate by screweing through both the drip rail and new gutter underneath. Then fold down and/or cut drip rail in sections so it dumps into the new gutter. Does any kind of putty or sealant go on underneath or on top of the drip rail? What size gutter is recommended? These will be going on 14 x 70 SW. Thanks in advance for any and all comments.

Hi

Where I live you need a 6" to handle some of our downpours.

Hey Harry thanks for the reply I was thinking 6" too. OK, Does any kind of putty or sealant go underneath the new gutter or elsewhere during installation?
