Coleman Propane Furnace (1989)
Model 7956A856
Serial #128869349
Pilot Model 36C67
Type 175
8847 E4

When pushing and holding the black knob down to light the pilot, the black knob broke into a million pieces.

Can just the black knob be purchased or do you purchase the entire unit the knob was attached to?
Can I order from you and what would the part number be?

Hi,

This is a pet peeve and sore spot with us. The knob is not sold separately and the gas valve has to be replaced.

Only way to get knob is to find an old gas valve that's been replaced or a furnace with that gas valve and get it from there.

Gas Valve # 7956 - 336P can be seen and ordered from here by paging down:

http://www.aberdeenhomerepair.com/store ... -gas-valve

IF you are using LP and order the gas valve, remove the small black cap from the stem, unscrew the stem, invert it and reinstall. It comes set for natural gas and would need to be converted if using LP.

Thanks,
Robert

I have a Robertshaw 720-474 model 7200ERCS
24 VOLT "STEP-OPENING"
Would this be interchangeable with the Coleman furnace?

Not sure, but wouldn't use a step-opening valve not recommended for your furnace.

Thanks,
