Since we are basically doing a rebuild on our unit I was wondering how far apart the hot water heater and furnace have to be in a mobile home. In our old house they were right next to each other. The old furnace (in the house) was fuel oil and the hot water was propane but the trailer has them on opposite sides of the utility room. And the trailer seems set for either gas or electric.
The water pipes would be easier to move especially since it seems to be all flex pipe and moving it off the outside wall seems like there would be a lot less heat lost, not to mention it would then allow room for my chest freezer on that wall.
I have your repair manual and did not see anything about that being necessary.
Next Question
I don't believe there is any code that says they can not be next to each other. If you have a gas water heater, there are codes about venting. I would set it up that way if you have the room. Greg
