Drywall Hat Channel

I am wanting to drywall my ceiling on my SW mobile. The trusses are 2x2 and was wondering if installing drywall hat channel perpendicular on the trusses would distribute the weight of the drywall over a larger area thus taking the major load off the trusses.I will be installing 3/8"drywall and thinking even trying the new "lightweight"wallboard that claims to be 30% lighter than regular gypsum drywall.By the way this site has helped in sooooo many of my repairs so far.Thanks.
Does the ceiling already have drywall on it and you want to add more?
Is it messed up or something else?
I don't think changing the hanging direction of drywall sheets on the ceiling is going to change the load on the trusses. It isn't like it is only hanging from the edges. It still has to support in the middle.
Lightweight drywall might be good, especially if it is an add-on. I would check to see how it is rated for fire protection, especially if you are replacing existing drywall.
